Mercy Medical Behavioral Clinic - Roseburg, Oregon

The Behavioral Clinic at Mercy Medical Hospital needed to undergo expansion efforts in order to add additional treatment rooms, administration rooms, a separate residential care facility, as well as a separate office building. In order to accommodate the expansion, the parking lot was enhanced and vehicular circulation changed to follow the new building configuration.

A welcoming entry plaza was incorporated into the entrance of the main building of the Behavioral Clinic in order to accentuate the main entrance as well as to provide an outdoor area for patients and visitors. The new office building also hosts an exterior entrance plaza designed for employees to step outside and to relax under the grid of trees. The residential care unit entry is addressed in a different manner in that it provides a subtle entrance into the building in order to ensure privacy for patients using the facility. The back yard of the residential care unit hosts a small, intimate healing garden. The circular path of the garden is a healing symbol that can be viewed from the second story of the building. The path circles the yard with smaller paths meandering off to private benches and spaces to sit and relax. A trellis follows the line of the yard offering shade and additional private areas.
