In partnership with Lovinger2 Landscape Architecture The Rabin Center for Peace Studies is perched high on a bunker overlooking the Mediterranean Coast. The design of the center embraces symbols of peace and reflection, creating tranquil places for people to learn, dialogue, and contemplate. The dramatic curved ceiling of the atrium alludes to giant dove wings
soaring over the site. Two terraced gardens ascend from the building and
wrap around the central water feature. These gardens, named the Hussein
and Clinton Gardens, represent the peace treaty between Israel and Jordan
and offer a variety of spaces, some intimate and some more public, for
relaxing, reading, studying or gathering. An amphitheater is carved out
of the Clinton Garden offering a space for events and other gathering
opportunities while a cool microclimate is created in the Hussein Garden
by a cascading water feature falling over the terrace walls. The gardens
overlook and are reflected within the central water feature representing
the unifying spirit of global peace efforts.
