Temple Beth Israel - Eugene, Oregon
In partnership with Lovinger2 Landscape Architecture

The entire landscape design for Temple Beth Israel achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification through the integration of stormwater management strategies, high efficiency irrigation, the use of recycled and/or recyclable materials, and drought tolerant plantings.

Runoff from the parking lot enters a bio-swale planted with native plants that assist in the infiltration and filtering of the runoff. Additionally, passive heating and cooling principles were followed by carefully siting deciduous trees near the western building facades to provide shade during the heat of summer while allowing the sun's warmth to penetrate into the buildings in the summer.
