An elegant, curved wall sits atop a hill in south Eugene, welcoming residents and guests to the Wu Residence. The clients wished to improve their existing landscape by expanding the lawn, improving the circulation and creating an attractive landscape that was at least partially screened from their neighbors.
The curved wall and complimentary fence were designed in response to the surrounding meandering hillside, providing a visually appealing, unique experience for the clients and their neighbors. The wall sweeps across the southern end of the property, allowing expansion of the lawn in the backyard. A metal railing accentuates the curves of the wall while keeping deer out of the garden and screening views into the backyard. A flagstone walkway and steps from the front yard replaces a treacherous gravel path. Durable wall treatments and plants were used as well, including custom metal gates and trellises, colorful perennials, and deciduous and evergreen shrubs. The thoughtful combination of these materials has created a landscape that is easy to maintain and attractive year round. |
